Where to Study Abroad if You Want to Go Somewhere Warm

By Victoria Robertson on August 29, 2019

When it comes to studying abroad, there are countless locations from which you can choose. That being said, not all of them have warmer weather, especially if you’re looking into European countries during their winter.

For that reason, it’s important that you do some research and pick out the right location for you. If your first priority is the warmer weather, below are six countries/continents that are worth looking into, as you’ll get the best weather and therefore the best study abroad experience for you.

1. Fiji

Speaking from personal experience, Fiji was easily one of the most beautiful locations I have ever been to, and, if it weren’t for the study abroad experience, I never would have been able to see it.

Fiji is an island in the same vicinity as Australia and New Zealand (many study abroad students choose to study abroad and visit all three, as they are so close in proximity).

But that all aside, the study abroad experience is phenomenal, as you can become immersed in the laid back and fun Fijian culture almost as soon as you step off the plane. And if it’s warm temperature you’re looking for, you’re not going to find a nicer, tropical destination.

2. Australia

Whether you study abroad here or hop on over from Fiji, Australia is one of the most common and popular study abroad locations, and for good reason. Whether you’re interested in the Sydney city life or more interested in visiting the various wildlife locations throughout the continent, you’ll easily find this warm destination to be an immediate favorite.

Australia is most commonly chosen because of its offerings, but also remember that these programs do have a bit more variety than the Fijian offerings, which is something to consider as you look for a country to visit.

3. Africa

While there are certainly a variety of health-related obstacles you’ll have to go to in order to visit most countries in this continent, Africa is warm, beautiful and full of wildlife that most individuals crave when studying abroad.

And if it’s adventure you’re looking for, you aren’t going to find a better location to study abroad. Africa has a lot to offer those that visit, and most study abroad programs here offer you once in a lifetime experiences that you wouldn’t be able to get otherwise, making it a great choice for anyone interested!

4. New Zealand

As mentioned previously, New Zealand is another hot destination that study abroad students love to visit. While Fiji and Australia offer quite a bit of beach life, New Zealand offers more of an adventure-type setting through which you can skydive, cage dive with sharks, bungee jump, etc.

New Zealand also has some of the most beautiful locations in the world, which is why many films have been shot there, giving tourists and study abroad students plenty of places to visit when they visit New Zealand. So if you’re looking for warm weather and adventure, this country should be a contender.

5. Ecuador

Ever heard of the Galapagos Islands? Then this is a destination you’ll probably be interested in. While the weather is a bit cooler than average for the other countries mentioned (typically 70 degrees), Ecuador is a contender simply from its study abroad offerings.

Not only are there plenty of island hopping and water excursions throughout the country, but there are also plenty of cities brimming with culture and worth experiencing. While the country’s programs are typically geared more towards the sciences, this is a great destination for anyone to visit.

6. Morocco

Last, but definitely not least, Morocco is another country that many individuals don’t think of when thinking of warmer weather, but they should be. With over 900 years of history, just in the city of Rabat, Morocco is a cultural dream, as you’ll surely get the most out of this unique experience.

Whether riding on camel-back through the desert, taking in the architecture from the city or simply enjoying the Atlantic Ocean by sitting along the palm tree-lined beach, this melting pot of culture is a surefire way to pack in the most to your study abroad experience.

Again, there are so many locations to choose from when looking into study abroad trips, which can certainly make the choice more difficult. That being said, the above six locations are some of the warmest and most inviting locations that you can choose.

While there are plenty more options out there, do some research into the type of program you’re looking for, the kind of location you are looking for and, more importantly, which location offers you the warmest possible experience that will serve you well as you move forward in your career.

Happy hunting and have a blast!
